【学制和学期School System and Semesters】
湖南理工学院每学年分春、秋两个学期。秋季学期是新学年的开始，一般从9月初开始至下一年的1月中旬结束。春季学期一般从2月底开始至7月中旬结束。每学年有寒假和暑假两个假期，暑假通常为两个月（7月、8月）。寒假较短，一般为4周左右，与中国春节假期相连。
There are two semesters in one academic year in Hunan Institute of Science and Technology (HNIST): Fall semester and Spring semester. Fall semester is the beginning of each school year, usually from early September to mid-January of the next year. Spring semester usually starts from late February to mid-July. In HNIST, there is summer vacation and winter vacation per year. Summer vacation is normally two months (July and August), and winter vacation is about four weeks, with the traditional Chinese Spring Festival holiday included.

目前我校仅在每年9月招收新入学外国留学生，申请材料递交时间为每年4月1日-4月30日。请登陆湖南理工学院国际学生服务平台进行网上申请。(https://hnist.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx)
HNIST is currently recruiting overseas students only in September. The acceptance time of the application materials is April 1st to April 30th each year. Please apply online through the international student service system of Hunan Institute of Science and Technology（ https://hnist.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx ）
【申请基本条件Basic requirements for application】
1. 截至当年5月30日年满18周岁；
Applicants should be 18 years of age or older before May 30th in the very year;
2. 持有效外国普通护照的非中国籍公民；
Applicants should be non-Chinese citizens who hold valid ordinary passport of a foreign country;
3. 身体健康,品行良好, 具有相当于中国普通高中毕业学历；
Good health and proper behavior are required. Applicants are also required to have a general high school diploma.
4. 申请本科学历教育者汉语水平达到HSK4级，未达到HSK4级者必须先申请预科课程。
Applicants who apply for undergraduate education are required to have reached the level of HSK4, and those who have not reached the level of HSK4 should apply for preparatory courses.
申请研究生学历教育者，汉语授课专业汉语水平须达到HSK4级，未达到HSK4级者必须先申请预科课程；英语授课专业，若申请者来自官方语言为非英语的国家，则需要通过我校进行的英语能力测试。
Applicants who apply for postgraduate education are required to have reached the level of HSK4 for majors taught in Chinese, and those who have not reached the level of HSK4 should apply for preparatory courses. For Majors taught in English, applicants come from non-English speaking countries need to pass the English proficiency test held by HNIST.
【项目简介Programs Introduction】
1. 学历教育Degree Program
本科生学制4年，完成教学方案规定的教学内容，毕业论文通过答辩，可取得毕业证书，符合学士学位规定条件者，授予学位证书。
Bachelor degree program lasts 4 years. Students can get graduation certificate on the condition that they finish all required courses and pass their thesis defense. They will be awarded bachelor degree if they fulfill the course requirements. Students would study together with Chinese students.
硕士研究生学制2-3年，完成教学方案规定的教学内容，毕业论文通过答辩，可取得毕业证书，符合硕士学位规定条件者，授予学位证书。
Master degree program lasts 2-3 years. Students can get graduation certificate on the condition that they finish all required courses and pass their thesis defense. They will be awarded Master degree if they fulfill the course requirements. Students would study together with Chinese students.
2. 非学历教育Non-degree program
（1）学历教育预科课程 Preparatory courses for academic degree education
学历教育语言预科生：汉语零基础或未达到等级要求的留学生在进入学历教育课程前的语言学习阶段，学制1年，视情况可以申请适当延长学习。按规定进修汉语言课程学习，学习期满并通过HSK考试后可进入学历教育阶段。
The Chinese language study period for the students with zero-based Chinese or below the required level which lasts 1 year at least， or can be extended according to the situation. Students can enter the academic degree education after finish all the language courses and get the HSK certificate.
（2）汉语言课程 Chinese language courses
语言生：根据留学生汉语水平开设不同层次的汉语言课程，学制1年，适用于希望到中国游学、体验汉语和中国文化的留学生申请。学习结束并通过课程考核者将取得湖南理工学院汉语言课程结业证书。
In accordance with the Chinese level of overseas students, Chinese language courses are offered at different levels, and it lasts 1 year. Students will be issued the certificate of completion after finish all the courses and pass the curriculum assessment.

所有申请材料须使用中文或英文，如有非中文或非英文版材料，请提供翻译件并公证。
All application documents must be in Chinese or English. If there are non-Chinese or non-English materials, please provide the translation documents and notarization documents.

2. 护照复印件 A copy of the passport.
3. 最后学历证书及成绩单原件（交换生还需提供大学在读证明）
A scanning copy of your highest diploma and transcript ( the exchange students are additional required the certificate of student status from your college).
4. 出入境检疫机关出具的近3个月内外国人体格检查记录。（包括血液报告）
Physical Examination Record for Foreigner at an Entry-Exit Quarantine Bureau in the recent 3 months. (including blood report)
5. 相关部门出具的无犯罪记录证明。（开具日期为三个月内）
A non-criminal certificate issued by relevant departments. (Issued within 3 months)
6. 权威机构或两名教授的推荐信
Recommendation letters from two different professors or authorities. (if you study for a degree, including preparatory course)
7. 个人简历（须包含邮件地址及联系电话）
Curriculum Vitae. (including your e-mail address and phone number)
8. 学习计划 Study plan.
9. 两张六个月内的护照规格照片及电子版
2 photos as the passport photo in the recent 6 months and e-copy.
10. 汉语水平证明（HSK证书）
Certification of the level of Chinese proficiency (important).
If you don’t pass the HSK 4（HSK5 for postgraduate education）, you should attend our intermediate Chinese Class and pass the Chinese language testing.
11. 资金证明 Proof of funds
本科/硕士研究生学历教育申请者须提供相当于一万美元的6个月冻结资金，冻结日期必须在最近30天内。
1） 以申请者本人名义出具的银行资金证明；或
2） 以申请者监护人（如父母）的名义出具的银行资金证明，并提供申请者与监护人的关系证明文件及公证件。
Applicants for degree education must provide 6-month frozen funds equivalent to US $10,000, and the bank statements must be dated within the last 30 days.
1) Bank statements should be issued by name of applicant, or
2) by name of applicant's guardian (ex. your parents). Proof documents for the relationship between guardian and applicant and notarized documents shall be provided.
凡在中国正式学校学习的人员申请来校学习，还应提供
Applicants who are studying in a formal college in China need additional documents as follows：
12. 所在院校国际事务办公室的转学同意信（加盖公章）
A transfer consent letter from international affairs office of current college (stamped with the official seal).
13. 有效在华签证或居留许可证复印件
Scanning copies of valid visa or residence permit in China.
【关于签证Visa】
请于入境前持《录取通知书》（电子复印件）、《外国留学人员来华确认表（JW201/202表）》或《短期来华留学生信息表》（电子复印件）、《外国人体格检查记录》（原件）等，前往中国大使馆（领事馆）申请X1或X2学习类签证来华学习（具体规定请咨询中国大使馆）。
Please take “Admission Notice”(electronic printed version), “Confirmation Form for Study in China (JW202/201 form)”or “Information Form for Foreign Students' Short-term Visit”(electronic printed version) “Physical Examination Record for Foreigner” (original documents) to Chinese Embassy (Consulate) and apply for an X1 or X2 visa to study in China.
【关于医疗保险Medical Insurance】
中国教育部规定，来华留学生必须购买中国大陆境内保险公司医疗保险。学生可于报到前或报到注册当日缴纳保险购买费用，保费标准：800元/一年。对于未按照要求购买指定保险者，我校将不予办理入学注册手续。
According to the regulation of Chinese Ministry of Education, overseas students who study in China must buy medical insurance in China. Students can pay insurance purchase fees before they are reported or reported on the registration day. The premium would be 800 Yuan/year. Students who do not have required medical insurance would be refused registration.

学费按照学年一次性缴纳，缴纳时按人民币价格收费，未按时全额缴纳学费者不予注册。
The tuition fee is paid in accordance with the academic year and charged at RMB. Students who do not pay the full amount of tuition on time would not be registered.
【关于奖学金Scholarship】
1、语言生奖学金：为推进校际合作，湖南理工学院为海外友好学校派遣的留学生15-20名提供全额语言学习预科奖学金（语言学习第一学年学费全免）。个人申请的学生根据其申请前最后学历学习成绩GPA分值给予部分学费奖学金。
Scholarship for Chinese Language Study: To improve the MOU between partner schools, HNIST would like to provide full scholarship (free tuition fee) to 15- 20 of the students of overseas partner schools for the first year of their Preparatory Chinese language study. The individual applicants would be given a partial percentage tuition scholarship according to the final education GPA.
2、学历生奖学金：根据校际合作协议，大学第一年奖学金标准根据友好学校学生的本国官方GPA分值和友好学校对该生综合表现情况的推荐信发放，大学第二、三、四年奖学金根据该学生在我校就读第一、二、三年的GPA和综合表现发放。
GPA在4.0-5.0：提供100%奖学金； GPA在3.0-3.99，提供80%奖学金；
GPA在2.0-2.99，提供60%奖学金； GPA在1.0-1.99，提供40%奖学金；
Scholarship for academic degree education: HNIST grant scholarship 40% up to 100% to the students of partner schools furthering their degree according to their performance and grade. The school will consider students GPA of Grade 12 (Mathayom 6) for the 1st-year-schorlarship in HNIST as follows:
- GPA 4.0-5.0 will be provided 100% scholarship;
- GPA 3.0-3.99 will be provided 80% scholarship;
- GPA 2.0-2.99 will be provided 60% scholarship;
- GPA 1.0-1.99 will be provided 40% scholarship.
【关于住宿Accommodation】
外国留学生住宿由学校统一安排，原则上不允许留学生在校外住宿。
Overseas students' accommodation is arranged by the school. In principle, the students are not allowed to accommodate outside school.
